Review summary
Based on recent reviews
Powered by AI
Highfield Hotel in Keswick is a popular choice, with many guests appreciating its great location near Hope Park and the town centre. The Cumbrian breakfast is frequently mentioned as a highlight, and the complimentary tea and cake in the afternoon is a much-loved bonus. Some guests have noted that the decor is a bit old-fashioned, but the spacious rooms, often with comfortable beds and good-sized bathrooms, provide a pleasant stay, and the available parking adds convenience.

The free parking behind the building was really convenient for my rental car. The location was also great. The town center was just a short walk. Breakfast offered both continental and Cumbrian fried options, which I found to be a good variety. They upgraded my room. It was appreciated.
My room was a bit old fashioned for my liking. I also only received one plastic bottle of water. Other water I needed I had to buy or refill in the bathroom.

Excellent Stay in a Prime Location

helpful staffcentral locationcomplimentary tea
The hotel staff were helpful and friendly. I had a great experience accessing nearby attractions (including Hope Park) . The breakfast provided was tasty, and I appreciate the bonus of complimentary tea and cake every afternoon between 3 and 5.
I noticed a slight smell of dampness near the door, but that was it.
Service
10/10
The staff was very responsive and attentive. Laura (a beautiful girl) offered a warm welcome and promptly addressed any queries. This attentiveness enhanced the overall feeling of being well-cared for during my time there.
Facilities
9/10
Parking is available at the rear of the hotel. The honesty bar provided a unique touch, though I did not utilize it. There are two lounges with views. The grounds are well kept.
Location
9/10
The hotel is central to many attractions (a big plus for exploring). It's a short walk to the town center. It is also near Hope Park. The hotel offers views of the lake and surrounding mountains.
Dining
9/10
Breakfast was excellent with a variety of options. I could have as much or as little as I wanted. The veggie breakfast was tasty. There was fresh fruit salad and yogurt (especially the pancakes!).

a mixed experience.

impractical roomawkward tv
the room design felt quite impractical i booked a suite hoping for great views and comfort. the tv was positioned awkwardly i could only watch it through the banisters from the bed. also the heating system operated on a timer so it switched off at 10pm causing the room to get uncomfortably cold. i had to request an electric heater to compensate. plus the windows were high and gave me a view of other rooms instead of the scenery.

the location was good for exploring the town center, it was only a short walk away.
The room i had was disappointing. the shower gel dispenser was empty, it wasn't refilled . i also struggled to adjust the shower temperature. It was either too cold or too hot. this made showering quite frustrating.

the staff greeted me with such enthusiasm, setting a fantastic tone for my stay. the double room second floor had natural light and thoughtful decor. i loved the location! it was a short walk to so many places.
The shower's temperature control proved tricky. Achieving the right balance was a small challenge. i hope they address it soon!

The staff was amiable and offered an excellent breakfast. The location is very convenient (easy to reach everything). The afternoon tea and cake were a nice touch.
I found it a bit hard to get the right shower temperature. The shower gel dispenser was empty in my room. I wish there was more attention to such details.
