the staff greeted us warmly (i just loved that). our room was clean and appropriately sized. the breakfast was delicious and the dining room was very inviting. i found ample parking spaces available.
i noticed the room looked a bit worn in certain areas. maybe a refresh would make it perfect.

The hotel provided ample parking, which i found very convenient. the rooms were clean. They were also very well presented. i particularly enjoyed that the overall decor was country and rustic. the food at the restaurant, especially the sirloin on the bone . the waiting staff were polite. i found them attentive during my meal.
the only slight issue i noticed was that some of the paintwork could use a little tidying.

a calm experience

The cooked breakfast was really good. I had scrambled egg with smoked salmon. the home-made shortbread was tasty. the hand-made soap was a lovely extra. we enjoyed the open fire in the bar.
the bedroom windows were dirty with mould around them. the room was quite small. there was only one chair, and its springs were totally gone.

the setting is quiet and peaceful, a very relaxing stay. the grounds have fabulous gardens for kids to run in! it is within easy reach of a roman fort.
