clean roomfresh towelsdated decorscalding water
the room was very clean and the towels were changed every day. they also topped up the biscuits , tea , coffee , and milk each day.
i noticed the decor is a bit dated , with diy maintenance. the hot water in the tap was scalding hot , and both taps dripped if not turned off really hard.

mixed experience at the inn
noisy refrigeratormildew shower
The room itself was disappointing. a refrigerator sat right outside my door and ran loudly most of the night. I barely slept. the shower also had mildew. i wish they had taken better care of these issues before my stay.

the room included an en-suite. a separate entrance existed. this avoided needing to walk through the pub each time.
i noticed a slight lack of electric sockets in the room, only an extension cable was available.

The bed was comfortable. The shower offered powerful hot water. The bar provided a nice selection of drinks and food. It is a good base to stop on the way to Scotland. The hotel is very close to Castlerigg.
Our room required underfloor sound insulation. Noises from other guests continued late. This was too intrusive. I think, with some investment in updating the room, this place could be even better.

The staff was helpful. They were polite. The traditional bar offers plenty of outdoor seating. The hotel has a great price. This is good considering the location of the hotel.
