underwhelming stay with some hiccups

low shower head fire alarm
The room had some issues. The shower head was quite low. i'm not particularly tall. i think anyone over six feet would struggle. also, the fire alarm went off twice one night. no staff were on site initially, which wasn't ideal. it caused quite a disturbance.

accessible trails good food attentive service
the location provided easy access to several walking trails with varying difficulty. breakfast and dinner included very good food. the staff demonstrated great service.
i noticed a slight chill in the restaurant because the fireplace was not in use and the heating was off.

breakfast option thoughtful touch really good service
the breakfast had great options and was included in the room rate, a big plus. they provided dog bowls directly in my room, a thoughtful touch. the service was really good at the horse & farrier, so i ate there every evening.
The room overlooked the kitchen staff rest area. At times, i overheard staff swearing.

the twin room was clean. it was also comfortable. i received a packed lunch to take away since i needed to leave early, and it was fantastic!!!
i feel both pubs should be advertised as separate entities. it caused confusion. the hotel had a disco one night. it was loud.

dusty fan lumpy pillows
The room needed some attention. i found cobwebs on the ceiling light and the fan was notably dusty. the shower seemed designed for someone shorter. At 6ft2, my head touched the shower head. also, the pillows felt rather lumpy. we also dealt with a disruptive fire alarm . there was no staff member immediately available when it first went off.

generous selection big bed stains carpet oversized shower
The breakfast offered a generous selection. I found the Balmoral Chicken at dinner fabulous. The room was quite clean and tidy, a pleasant surprise. The bed provided was big, and copious hot water was available.
The room required a refurb, unfortunately. The carpet, footstool, and sofa had stains, which detracted from the overall appearance. Walls needed fresh painting for a cleaner look. I found the space tight with a massive oversized shower.
