Excellent Stay

expected amenities happy reception central location walking trails
I had a club double room. The room included all expected amenities. The reception staff happily accommodated requests. I found the location central with immediate access to shops. There was a short walk to walking trails like Loughrigg and Grasmere.
The spa rooms seemed a little tired .

mixed feelings about recent stay

the location is indeed very central. (that was expected).
I was disappointed the tv in the room didn't work properly. It only picked up radio stations. when i mentioned this upon leaving, i was told it had been reported and supposedly fixed, but clearly nobody checked whether it was working before our arrival, a real oversight.

amazing breakfast helpful staff poor signal uncomfortable bed
The breakfast was amazing. the staff were very helpful and kind. it was really something. Everyone was so warm, and i felt so cared for and special.
the tv struggled to maintain a signal. the bed was uncomfortable. i was a little disappointed by this! it made our evenings less relaxing because of this.

Mixed experience. Spa was disappointing.

warm steam room sauna program
The 'relaxing' spa area was NOT relaxing at all. It reminded me of a public pool. It was full of kids splashing and shouting. The steam room was barely warm. The sauna was also not hot enough and seemed to be locked into a weird program (i found it annoying).

helpful staff wonderful breakfast comfortable lounge small room weird smell limited space
the hotel staff were very helpful and pleasant. breakfast had a wonderful selection of options (i especially liked the cooked items on hot plates!). the lounge areas were comfortable and cute.
the room was small and quite warm. even with the window open, it had a strange smell. the bathroom was also too small with limited space for toiletries.
