DOVE COTTAGE, Allonby

Dove Cottage sits a few metres from the Solway Firth beach with direct access to an endless expanse of sand at low tide. The cottage offers mountain views across fields and distant hills, and evening sunsets over Scotland are visible from the doorstep. Guests can walk a mile along the beach or coastal path to Allonby village for a local pub, shop, and ice cream bar.

The one-bedroom house includes a private bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen with oven, hob, and washing machine, plus a log burner with fuel provided. The bed can be set as a twin or double, and the cottage has wall heaters, soundproof rooms, and a built-in wardrobe with shelves. Guests are provided with bed linen, thick bathroom towels on a heated rail, toilet rolls, and cleaning products.

The cottage is equipped with an air fryer, coffee machine, cafetière, and hair dryer with straighteners. Guests will find washing tablets, tin-foil, tea towels, lighters, and nice wine glasses already in the cottage. Off-site private parking is free, and a parking garage is available.

Dove Cottage accepts pets and provides water and feeding bowls, a dog blanket, and a safe environment for reactive dogs. The beach is quiet and ideal for dog walks, with skylarks and birdwatching at the nearby nature reserve. The cottage is non-smoking throughout and has soundproof rooms for a calm stay.

The coastal towns of Maryport (6 miles south) and Silloth (9 miles north) offer a harbour aquarium and a long promenade walk. The Lowther Arm pub in Allonby serves food and is dog-friendly.
