i found the staff cute. they took my dinner order over the phone as i arrived late from the ferry. i also appreciated the map of the lake district in the breakfast room. the location is great (close to many attractions).
the room was a bit cold upon arrival. i had difficulty getting the bathroom water to warm up for a bath. the tv also had no signal.
Location

the hotel is near ullswater, a lovely lake with boat trips. the position is also excellent for accessing rheged, a food market, and pooley bridge for steamer rides. it's also close to the m6.
Dining
9/10
breakfast included locally sourced kippers (i enjoyed them a lot). i appreciated that breakfast was cooked to order. the wine list was extensive (the landlord spoke knowledgeably about wines).
Facilities
8/10
the bar was well-stocked and had a couple of ales. ample seating areas were available (a plus for longer stays). a beer garden was present, but the weather limited its use.
Service
9/10
the staff provided a warm welcome at reception. they were friendly in the bar and restaurant. a staff member offered coffee in the conservatory during breakfast (a nice touch).
Rooms
8/10
the room i stayed in was large and clean with a comfortable bed. a bath was present in the bathroom as requested. there were ample places to relax within the room.
The staff offered warm greetings and efficient service. the location proved convenient. Parking was plentiful. the breakfast buffet included a wide array of options.
My shower's water pressure fluctuated considerably. the bathroom radiator lacked a thermostat. I couldn't adjust it. the mattress felt lumpy. I found it worn out.
